Epoxy floors are relatively low-maintenance. Regular cleaning with a mop and a non-abrasive cleaner is typically sufficient. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the epoxy finish.
With proper care, epoxy flooring can last for 10-20 years or even longer.
No, even when it has a glossy finish. Concrete actually provides a good level of foot traction and actually fares better than some other flooring choices such as lino or marble. Our sealers offer a good level of additional slip resistance to concrete floors too, although, as you would have to with any other flooring material, exercise caution walking on it when wet.
Polished concrete is incredibly durable, versatile and low maintenance. It works incredibly well with underfloor heating and what we like most about it - no two floors are the same.
Epoxy offers a wide range of design options for flooring. You can choose from solid colors, metallic finishes, or even create a custom look with decorative chips or flakes embedded in the epoxy. Some creative applications include mimicking the look of natural stone or even incorporating three-dimensional objects.
Some cases allow for the application of epoxy coatings over existing flooring, such as concrete or tile. However, the surface must be properly prepared first, including being leveled, clean, and free of any imperfections.
ARE EPOXY COATINGS DIFFICULT TO INSTALL MYSELF?
Installing epoxy coatings can be a DIY project, but it requires careful preparation and following the manufacturer's instructions precisely. For the best results, some people prefer to hire professional installers.
We recommend introducing a low stress maintenance routine to keep polished floors shiny and clean. This essentially consists of dry mopping daily to remove dust and grit brought in from outside and a regular wet mop using a PH neutral cleaner. For special occasions, you can also go over the surface with a high-speed burnisher - these machines can be affordable and easy to find for hire. The heat and friction burnishing causes can restore the surface sheen on a well-used floor.
